Lynne Grant became the first woman ever to win a golf tournament on the European Tour that included men. The 22-year-old Swede started her last day at the Scandinavian mixed club in her country with a lead, and then expanded it. I came out with a score of -24.
Henrik Stenson of Sweden and Scotsman Mark Warren tied for second at an appropriate distance: -15. Thus Grant had the most distance to reach No. 2 this season on the DP World Tour. The little Swedish boy made five birds in the first six holes on closing day.
The Scandinavian mixed group is part of the Women’s European Tour (LET) and DP World Tour, the new name of the Men’s European Tour. At LET this was her third win in six competitions this year.
She said it was very important for Grant to beat the guys this weekend. “Of course that was the most important. All week I felt like the girls against the guys and whoever picks up the trophy represents the whole field. I hope people learn about women’s golf, more sponsors go to LET, and I hope it gives this women’s branch a boost.”
