With the developments in recent years around Wine and Proton, Valve has ensured that playing on Linux has become many times easier.
Sure, it’s not always 100% tamper-resistant, but I’ve been working on a Manjaro (Nvidia GPU) since December and only had one thing why I had to go back to windows and it wasn’t just a game. My TMX Pro Racing Wheel is not supported because Thrustmaster has not developed Linux drivers.
Everything else works in Linux: League of Legends, Hearthstone, Diablo 2 and 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Nier Replicant, F1 2021 (the game works perfectly, albeit without a steering wheel) and since the day of release even Elden Ring is working out box .
Admittedly, every game will work perfectly and you’ll have to tweak left and right now and then (adjust Proton versions, startup parameters, etc.) but they can all work. It often works better, is more stable, and is faster than it does on Windows.
Not everything is as grumpy as it was 10 years ago happily #thanksvalve!
