The Chief of the Suriname Police Force, Roberto Pride, had a conversation with the people of Suriname yesterday The President of the Republic, the Minister of Justice and Police, and the Minister of Finance and Planning. He announced in that conversation that he would write a letter in which he indicated that he would make his position available. This has been accepted and will take effect on January 25th.
The outgoing police chief indicated that it would give the government ample space to implement the planned reorganization. In the meantime, the government will form an administrative team to lead the force. In any case, there will be no vacuum in politics.
The chief of police will perform his duties normally until the last date of his appointment, reports the Suriname Communication Service (CDS).
The Surinamese Police Association (SPB) has yet to respond to this.
