If you’re remotely squeamish, this clip isn’t for you.

Demba Ba, the star striker for Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua, suffered a horrific broken leg while playing against Shanghai SIPG after being tackled from behind by Sun Xiang.

The footage is some of the most confronting ever witnessed on a football pitch.

Warning: Viewer discretion is advised – but if you’ve come this far, you’re probably gonna go ahead and watch it anyway…

Ba scored 50 goals in 99 games for English clubs West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea from 2011-14, and has plied his trade in France, Belgium, Germany and Turkey, before taking up a deal with Shanghai Shenhua last year.

He has represented Senegal 19 times, scoring four goals.
