Messi dazzles with 30th Barca hat-trick

Who needs the Ballon d’Or when you’ve got everything in your game?

Just days after Cristiano Ronaldo beat him to the world’s top individual award for a second year running, Lionel Messi shrugged off the setback to net an incredible 30th hat-trick for Barcelona.

The Argentina captain’s sublime treble included everything from a smartly-judged run and header, to an instinctive deft lob and finally a rifled bottom-corner finish as the visitors breezed past Deport La Coruna 4-0.

Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez and their Barcelona teammates are now just one point behind Ronaldo’s Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.

While speculation continues to surround the 27-year-old Messi’s club future, it will take a monumental offer to prise such talent away from the Nou Camp.
