University of Canberra Vikings fullback Aidan Toua has reminded new Super Rugby employer the Waratahs of his talents with one of the finest tries of the NRC’s two seasons, tearing the Melbourne Rising defence apart in the most recent round of matches.
Receiving the ball 30 metres out from his own line, the 25-year-old stepped, swerved and sprinted past five Rising defenders, before linking with James Dargaville and accepting a return pass to flash over in the corner.
The dazzling try helped UC to a 42-16 win, the Vikings remaining unbeaten after six rounds and level with Brisbane City at the top of the table on 29 points – 10 clear of the third-placed Sydney Stars.
Port Moresby-born Toua is a former Australian age-group and Sevens representative, while he made 10 first-team appearances for the Reds before spending the last Northern Hemisphere winter with French club Agen.
The hot-stepping outside-back will return to Super Rugby in 2016 with the Waratahs.
