Dempster KO'd in sickening head clash

St Kilda’s Sean Dempster was knocked out and subsequently stretchered off the field following this shocking head clash with fellow veteran, and Fremantle talisman, Matthew Pavlich during the Saints big upset on Saturday night.

The stalwarts went up to contest the ball in just the third minute when their heads clashed. While Pavlich was dazed, Dempster was unconscious before he hit the ground, and his head slammed into the turf in sickening fashion.

Play was held up for several minutes as the Saints defender was placed in a neck brace and taken off the field on a motorised cart, but it was purely a precaution as Dempster was seen walking around in the dressing-rooms soon afterwards.
