Hayne makes impact in tight NY Giants loss

Jarryd Hayne produced another couple of impressive highlights in his fifth NFL outing, but was largely restricted to a bit-part role as his San Francisco 49ers sunk to a 1-4 record with a gut-wrenching 30-27 loss to New York Giants.

The former Parramatta superstar’s 8-yard run – coming within three yards of the Giants’ endzone – helped set up a 49ers touchdown, and sent the Australian newswires into disproportionate meltdown.

Hayne also made a 16-yard return from a punt by Australian compatriot Brad Wing.

Whichever way you look at it, Hayne is continuing to make his presence felt. There’s a groundswell of media and fans pushing for 49ers coach Jim Tomsula to give him more of a go:
