Miami Heat fans are still struggling to come to terms with the departure of their veteran superstar, their heart-and-soul player, Dwyane Wade.

But there’s little of the animosity that followed LeBron’s exit from Cleveland in 2010, or Kevin Durant’s recent decision to leave OKC – D-Wade made too many sacrifices for the franchise to be mad at him for embarking on a home-town return to the Bulls in the twilight of a decorated career.

This emotional tribute to Wade sums up why he is the Heat’s favourite son, and why he meant so much to the club on and off the court.

Wade County made be no more, but his legacy in Miami will live on.
