Manu's Last; Miller to Grizzlies; & More

It’s officially August. That generally means the start of football, but in this case, we’re all about the NBA.

News From This Past Week:

  • Ginobili is fairly certain the two-year contract he just signed will be his last. The 36-year-old Argentine is pretty much on his last legs so this should come to no surprise
  • Lucas Nogueira ‘most likely’ to return to Spain
  • Hawks claim Gustavo Ayon
  • Tracy McGrady could go from NBA Finals to China. Oh yeah, I forgot, Tracy McGrady did play for the Spurs in the finals. Very easy to forget seeing how he didn’t play a major hand in anything
  • Jazz Sign Undrafted Rookie Guard Ian Clark
  • Daniel ‘Boobie’ Gibson turns himself in on battery charge
  • Josh Childress Narrows Interest To Three NBA Teams
  • Celtics’ Kelly Olynyk battling plantar fasciitis
  • Kurt Rambis, Johnny Davis join Lakers staff
  • Nuggets draft pick Erick Green to play overseas
  • Mitch Kupchak says Lakers won’t throw in the towel next season. Any time you have Kobe Bryant, you have a chance
  • Mavericks close to signing DeJuan Blair
  • Grizzlies officially announce Mike Miller signing
  • Source: Sixers not talking buyout for Kwame Brown
  • Tim Hardaway Eyeing Miami GM Role After Pat Riley Retires
  • Pistons seal sign-and-trade deal for Brandon Jennings
  • Rockets forward Terrence Jones arrested on harassment charge in Portland
  • Devin Harris gets veteran’s minimum with Dallas. Remember when this guy was a future star in the league? Seems like a long time ago
  • John Wall signs five-year deal with Wizards worth 80 Million. Love this move from the Wizards as they lock up their star
  • Rumor: CP3 threatened departure before Rivers arrived
  • Bucks Sign Second Round Pick Nate Wolters. Great shooter and underrated athlete
  • NBA to release 2013-14 schedule early next week
  • LeBron James ‘mulling a bid’ for players union’s presidency
  • Carmelo won’t commit to Knicks for long-term

Biggest Takeaways From The Week:

  • John Wall receives huge deal. Wall, when healthy, and that has been a concern, is one of the top point guards in the league. He has averaged 17 points and nine assists in his first three NBA seasons. He’s only 22 years of age. Great things are in the future for Wall and the Wizards if he can stay on the floor
  • Detroit makes move for Brandon Jennings. You have to give up something to get something, and the Pistons did that. But in return, they get Jennings, a guy who can score the basketball at a 17-to-20 point per game average. Also, he’s just 23 years old. Solid and strong move for the Pistons
  • Carmelo Anthony not committing to the Knicks long-term should come as no surprise. Although, there are some thinking that ownership wants him to pick his teammates in 2015. We’ll just have to wait and see
