The Philadelphia 76ers got the kind of news they’ve become accustomed to getting this weekend, as reports surfaced that Ben Simmons will miss three months with a foot injury.

The number one overall pick, Simmons was widely expected to play 25-30 minutes a game for the new-look Sixers.

With the injury news, the Sixers have now lost two top-five picks to significant injuries before they’ve even hit the floor. Joel Embiid spent his first two years in the league dealing with injuries, and now Simmons will sit for considerable time.

The Sixers will obviously rest Simmons as long as needed, but it must be deflating for a franchise that’s dealt with losing for so long to have to sit back while their promising future waits in the wing.
