Donald Trump has appealed Maine's decision to bar him from the ballot in the primary election. On Thursday, Maine Secretary of State Sheena Bello announced the exclusion.
Trump asked the Maine Supreme Court to overturn Bello's decision. The Maine Supreme Court announced on Tuesday that an appeal had been filed, reports said Portland Press Herald.

Bello, a member of the Democratic Party, decided to exclude Trump from participating in the elections due to his alleged role in storming the Capitol building on January 6, 2021. According to a clause in the US Constitution, persons involved in the rebellion are those involved in any rebellion. They are not allowed to hold government positions.
The former Republican president has always denied his involvement in the rebellion. In the complaint his lawyers filed with the judge, Trump described Bellows as a “partisan decision maker” who had no authority to keep him off the ballot.
Trump said Bellows failed to establish a legal election process, made multiple errors and acted in a “partisan and erratic manner.”
