About seventy million people created an account on Topics from Wednesday night through Thursday. Meta parent Facebook’s new social media platform should compete with Twitter.
The number of users “exceeds expectations,” Mark Zuckerberg, head of Meta, reported on his Thread account. The app is available in a hundred countries, but not yet in the European Union.
Meta themes are launched at night from Wednesday to Thursday. On Thursday, Zuckerberg reported that Thread already had ten million users in the first hours after its launch. Several celebrities are now active on the platform, including actor Hugh Jackman and singer Jennifer Lopez.
The reason why strings cannot be used in the European Union, according to Meta, is due to the ambiguity surrounding European regulations.
Rival Twitter has been in trouble since billionaire Elon Musk took over the company. Threads is now seen as Twitter’s biggest competitor.
For example, Twitter recently imposed a temporary limit on the number of messages users can read. The platform had made this decision because AI companies would collect data from Twitter on a large scale. Companies will use this data to train their language models.
