In a shocking interview with Oprah Winfrey, the wife of British Prince Harry revealed that she was so bad during her stay in the UK that she no longer wanted to live. Markle also admitted that the mansion had an often oppressive, authoritarian and racist atmosphere.

Markle shared how her son Archie, even before he was born, was causing anxiety amongst members of the royal family about how dark his complexion was. Without mentioning a specific name, Markle said members of the royal family had “concerns and hadiths about how dark he was when he was born.”

The interview severely affected Markle’s close friend and tennis legend. Williams posted a touching message on Twitter on Sunday evening. Among other things, she writes: “I know that the media use sexism and racism to belittle and discredit women and people of color. The psychological consequences of these types of expressions are devastating and often deadly.”

Williams added on Instagram, “I am very proud of how brave you are. I know it’s not easy for you. You are strong, you and Harry. I love you. I like you. Your girlfriends.”
