Russian correspondent Iris de Graaf becomes presenter of NOS Journaal | Media
Iris de Graaf has been added to the team of presenters Noos News. The Russian correspondent will begin her training period in January 2024.
De Graaf has been the face of NOS in Moscow since 2020. In May this year, the editorial staff at NOS News decided to withdraw it from Moscow for security reasons. Working there would be impossible for her.
Since the summer, De Graaf has been reporting on Russia from the editorial office in Hilversum. She started working at the broadcaster in 2016 as editor of NOS op 3 and later of NOS Stories. She also worked in the foreign editorial office.
“I'm grateful for the past years that I was able to report from Russia on all those historical events,” De Graaf, 32, said on Friday. “The fact that in this new position I can continue to inform the Netherlands about what is happening in the world is a great new step in my career – especially in these difficult times as a journalist.”
Editor-in-Chief Giselle Van Kahn also expressed her delight at having someone with foreign experience join the presentation team. “In addition, Iris has clearly demonstrated in recent years that she can convey complex stories to the viewer in clear terms.”
