PSV Eindhoven have appointed former player DaMarcus Beasley as a club ambassador. The American will promote the Eredivisie leaders in his home country.

PSV already has three American internationals under contract: Ricardo Pepe, Malik Tillman and Sergino Dest. Dutch-born football director Ernest Stewart also holds American citizenship. PSV wants to focus more on the United States in the near future.

“American companies are showing increasing interest in the thriving Brainport area,” notes PSV commercial director Frans Jansen. “As a business link in the south, we want to respond to this trend. We believe there are opportunities in the US not only to be more commercially active, but also to expand our fan base there.”

PSV have not only hired Paisley to gain more exposure in the United States, which will host the next World Cup for national teams alongside Mexico and Canada. The club will also team up with marketer Bob van Oosterhout. “Bob has a lot of experience in sports marketing and has a very wide network in both Europe and the United States. He has been doing business there for years,” says Jansen.
