Novak Djokovic continues to shine in Astana and is sure of the ATP Finals | sports
Novak Djokovic won the ATP Championship in Astana. The Serbian was too strong for Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece in the final battle: 6-3, 6-4.
Djokovic won his third consecutive title in Kazakhstan. In the summer he was the best at Wimbledon and last week he won the Tel Aviv championship. He did not play between these two tournaments. He missed the US hardcourt season because he was not vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Djokovic had no problems in his private stakes and used two of his five break points. He qualified for the final on Saturday at the expense of Daniel Medvedev. After the second set, which Djokovic won in the tiebreak, Medvedev abruptly surrendered. The Russian won the first set 6-4.
Due to his 90th career title win, Djokovic also qualified for the ATP Finals, between November 13-20 in Turin. Earlier, Tsitsipas, Spaniards Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz and Norway’s Casper Ruud have already confirmed themselves to participate in the year-end championship. The eight best players of the year participate.
