Mice, like humans, can imagine walking to a specific place or bringing something from point A to point B. This means that mice seem to have imaginations just like humans.
Researchers in Janelia Research Park They developed a kind of thought detector using virtual reality. This measured activities in the brain of mice. The brain signals were then linked to the mice’s experiences in the virtual reality environment.
Scientists discovered that the same patterns appear in the brains of rodents as they appear in the brains of humans when they encounter certain objects. It has to do with patterns of neural activity in the hippocampus. This is the part of the brain responsible for spatial memory.
Research shows that mice can initiate these activity patterns voluntarily. They do this, for example, to “remember” remote locations.
This ability is essential for remembering past events or imagining future scenarios. Therefore, research suggests that mice have imaginations just like humans.
