Media: Former British Deputy Prime Minister Raab also leaves the House of Commons | outside

Former British Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab will step down from the House of Commons after the next general election. The Telegraph has seen letters from Raab to the president of his local Conservative Association. In it, the former deputy prime minister wrote that he was resigning because of the strain his work had put on his family. Britain’s Sky News also reported on his imminent departure.

“In recent years I have become increasingly concerned about the pressure this job is putting on my young family,” the newspaper quoted the letters as saying. “I will continue to fulfill all my responsibilities to my constituents and give all my support in the campaigns until we win next year. I am sure we can do that under the prime minister’s leadership.”

The conservative politician announced last month that he would step down as deputy prime minister and justice minister after being accused of bullying. Then he said that he would remain a member of the British House of Commons.

An independent investigation found that Raab had misbehaved. The report notes that he is guilty of “unreasonable and persistent aggressive conduct” and abuse of power and work methods that could be considered intimidating at different times and in different positions of seniority. He would also criticize employees by calling their work “utterly worthless” and “dramatic”, although according to the researcher it wasn’t bad enough to really speak of misconduct. Rapp himself disagreed with the findings. However, he left because, according to him, he had no other choice.

It is not yet known when the next general elections will be held in the United Kingdom. The deadline for elections to be held is January 2025. However, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is aiming for elections in the fall of 2024.
