Kim Jong Un’s wife was spotted again for the first time in a year
North Korean leader’s wife Kim Jong Un was seen in public for the first time in a year, according to state media. Ri Sol-ju was with her husband at a concert in honor of Kim’s father, the country’s former leader, Kim Jong Il.
In the past, she’s been seen a lot with Kim at formal events, but she hasn’t been seen since January of last year. Her unexplained absence sparked international speculation about her health or possible pregnancy.
South Korean intelligence agency NIS said it appears that Ri has not been abroad much due to the coronavirus. It is said that she spent time with the three children the couple was said to have fathered.
There are no masks or distance
North Korea does not officially have any confirmed cases of corona, but this is considered unlikely, partly due to the contacts the country maintains with China.
Pictures of the concert published by North Korean state newspaper Rodong Sinmun show Kim and Ree smiling at the Mansudai Arts Theater in the capital, Pyongyang. Nobody in the photos is wearing a face mask or looking to turn away.
According to the newspaper, the couple is one Visit In the Kumsusan Sun Palace, where the embalmed bodies of Kim Jong Il and Kim Il Sung were laid. There they would lay wreaths.
