Netflix will release the first part of a new series about Ronja, the thief's daughter, on March 28. The series is based on the world-famous story by Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren.
Part 2 will follow later this year, the streaming service reports.
Ronja, the thief's daughter It follows the adventures of a girl born into a gang of thieves in a medieval Scandinavian castle. The girl feels at home in the dangerous forest with all its strange and mysterious creatures.
Ronja becomes friends with Burke, a member of a rival gang, sparking a family feud. Meanwhile, a disreputable host attempts to rid the forest of thieves once and for all.
The series is written by Hans Rosenfeldt, who has previously written the script for other Scandinavian series such as the bridge in Marcella books.
Lindgren, who died in 2002, is one of the world's most translated authors. Her most famous character is Pippi Longstocking.
