Military Operation Vigilant Guardian, a reconnaissance mission for soldiers in streets, airports and other strategic places, ends on September 1 after more than six years. Overview of what is still changing.
Installing charging stations becomes more tax efficient
From now on, the installation of charging stations will become more tax efficient for both individuals and businesses. Parliament has not yet approved the plan, but it will be applied retroactively from 1 September.
According to Federal Finance Minister Vincent van Bettieghem (CD&V), the granting of the tax advantage should enable the accelerated growth of our country’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Anyone who installs a charging station at home will be able to count on a 45 percent tax cut starting September 1. The procedure applies to both owners and tenants.
The amount for which a tax deduction can be granted is limited to 1,500 euros per charging station and per taxpayer. The charging station must also be “smart” and can only use green energy.
Tax benefits for individuals will be phased out gradually, in order to encourage people to make a quick investment. From January 1, 2023, the rate will drop to 30 percent, and after one year to 15 percent.
Companies are also encouraged to install charging stations by increasing the investment discount. A 200 percent discount will apply to them from September, which will be reduced to 150 percent from 2023. Their charging infrastructure should be accessible to other users during part of the day.
For 11 euros per consultation with a psychiatrist
From September 1, everyone is entitled to affordable psychiatric care for €11 per consultation, up to 20 sessions per year. A distinction is made between primary psychiatric care and specialist psychiatric care.
For adults in primary psychiatric care, a maximum of eight individual sessions per year and a maximum of five group interventions are compensated, and for children and young adults this is about ten and eight sessions per year, respectively.
In more specialized psychiatric care, no more than twenty individual sessions and twelve group sessions are provided for adults, and for children and young adults it is twenty and fifteen sessions respectively.
It is also the intention in each case to provide the first individual treatment session within a week to a maximum of one month from the moment the request for assistance is submitted.
Those who are entitled to an additional premium pay €4 per session, other patients pay €11. For group intervention 2.5 euros. The first individual session in primary psychiatric care is also free.
Flemish training leave will be doubled
The Flemish training leave will be doubled once in this academic year from 125 hours to 250 hours. This doubling from September 1 is only possible if the employer suggests training.
The intent of this measure is to give an extra boost to the Flemish training leave, so that more employees are encouraged to follow the training courses. Flemish Minister of Labor Hilde Krewitz (CD&V) has provided 10 million euros for this purpose.
An employee can currently be absent from work for a maximum of 125 hours with Flemish training leave. This school year can be doubled if the employer, after consulting with the employee, offers the same training. This means that the employee may be absent for 125 hours for courses of his choice, and 125 hours for courses proposed by the employer. Leave cannot be compulsory. It is the employee who decides to accept the employer’s offer.
Argenta informs customers who do not live in Sepa
Argenta’s Belgian customers who live outside the Ceiba region are required to switch to another bank by September 1.
The termination applies to accounts of Belgians living abroad. By the word “outside”, Argenta refers to all countries that do not belong to the so-called Ceiba region. SEPA stands for Single European Payment Area and includes all countries of the European Union, as well as a limited number of non-EU countries, such as Switzerland, Norway, Monaco and the United Kingdom. Transactions in this field are considered a “Local Batch”.
In recent months, Argenta sent a letter to 700 overseas customers informing them that their bank account had been closed. They had two months – for the last group, the deadline is September 1 – to transfer their money to another account.
