Former figure skater Elena Fanchini (37) dies of cancer | other sports
Italian skier Elena Fancini has died of cancer at the age of 37. This was confirmed by the Italian Ski Federation FISI. Fanchini was already diagnosed with a tumor at the beginning of 2018. It cost her participation in the Pyeongchang Olympics.
“At the end of a serious illness, Elena Fancini passed away in her hometown of Solato,” the front said in a brief statement. The nature of the cancer was not revealed.
Fancini won the silver medal at the 2005 World Ski Championships.
