Female radio makers come up with their own award as a counterpart to RadioRing| Media
A group of female radio makers have created their own award. This award is a counterpart to the RadioRing Award, for which no women were nominated this year. The award will be presented on Thursday, just like RadioRing.
Last year, for the first time, the organization behind RadioRing no longer differentiated between male and female DJs for the Best Presenter award. This year, the awards ceremony is gender-neutral again.
“It's a great goal, of course, but women are far from being represented equally in the world of radio,” says DJ Astrid de Jong, from NPO Radio 1, co-launcher of the Alternative Radio Award.
“Hardly any woman's voice is heard during the day on the most popular radio stations. Because we want to show women with ambition that it is indeed possible to make a living in the best profession ever, we have compiled a list of ambitious women: 100 Successful Women of Radio. “
Last year, the women were nominated for the RadioRing Award for Best Broadcaster. Then the opportunity arose for Marieke Alsinga (Qmusic), Iris Enthoven (Radio 538) and Emilie de Welt (NPO Radio 2). They then saw the award go to Radio 10 colleague Rob Van Someren.
You can vote for the alternative award via the radiovrouwen.nl website.
