Eid al-Fitr in Morocco: Wednesday or Thursday?

Astronomical calculations predict that Eid al-Fitr will fall in Morocco on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as is the case in many Arab and European countries. But Moroccan religious authorities prefer sighting the crescent moon to determine the exact date.
The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs stated, in a statement published yesterday, that “the sighting of the crescent on the first day of Eid al-Fitr will be on Tuesday, Ramadan 29, 1445. The department is summoning judges, notaries, and representatives of the office.” The Ministry informs the department of whether or not the crescent has been sighted.”
