If the makers of the documentary about Wendy Williams had known during recording that the broadcaster suffered from aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, they would never have made the documentary. Producer Mark Ford disagrees Hollywood Reporter.

in Where is Wendy Williams? The 59-year-old broadcaster is being followed after she quit her talk show The Wendy Williams ShowWhich she served from 2008 to 2021. She resigned for health reasons and alcoholism.

From August 2022 to April 2023, cameras followed Williams. Producer Ford says the filmmakers first had a story in which Williams performed better because she gave up the bottle. But in the end, things got worse for the broadcaster.

Ford and his co-stars were very concerned about Williams during the filming process. “She was left alone, without food, in her apartment with stairs where she could easily fall,” Ford said. “There was no one around her. But if we had known that Wendy was suffering from dementia, no one would have pointed the camera at her.”

Williams' team announced last week that the American broadcaster will be diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023. The statement came two days before the documentary was broadcast on Lifetime.
