Despite back injury, Tim van Reethoven is not interested in participating in the US Open | sports

Tim van Reethoven is not worried about his participation in the US Open. The world number 104 suffered a back injury at a tournament in Indianapolis last week.

The US Open, the last major tournament of the year, begins on Monday, August 29. Van Reethoven, 25, moved to the main tournament last week after South Africa’s Lloyd Harris was disqualified.

“The good news is that the injury is not serious. As it now appears, Tim will be back on track within a week and back in the United States in two to three weeks,” said Luca Cosi, Van Reethoven’s manager.

The Dutch No. 3 will compete in the Grand Slam in New York for the first time. Van Reethoven reached the fourth round at Wimbledon this summer, with his first major slam debut. He lost in four sets to Novak Djokovic, the eventual winner of the tournament.
