Martin Garrix is no longer the most famous DJ in the world. In the British magazine’s prestigious DJ Mag Top 100 list DJ Mag The Dutchman is third this year, with David Guetta taking the throne once again.
The 56-year-old Frenchman is at the top for the fourth time. Only Armin van Buuren, out of five this year, has won elections more often. He can call himself the most popular DJ in the world five times over. Garrix, like Jota, also has four wins.
As in previous years, the Top 100 is once again full of Dutch lists. There is also a place in the top 10 for Afrojack (7) and just outside it are Don Diablo (13), R3HAB (14), W&W (16) and Oliver Heldens (19). Big names like Tiësto and Nicky Romero ranked slightly lower, at 23rd and 24th respectively.
The winner was counted down live via a live broadcast on YouTube. Guetta was allowed to end the broadcast herself with a set from a cliff on the Spanish island of Ibiza. Previously, the winner was always announced during the Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF) at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). This cooperation ended in 2021.
according to DJ Mag This year, about 1.3 million people from 237 different countries voted.
