Covid Live: Poland’s advisers quit for fear the government won’t follow the flag – as it did

Concerned, but not giving up, President Joe Biden is anxiously urging people to get Covid-19 injections after the Supreme Court halted the government’s blanket plan for vaccination or testing for major employers.

At a time when hospitals are overrun and record numbers of people are infected with the omicron variant, the government is hoping states and companies will demand their own vaccination or testing requirements. And if the “Presidential Exposition” is still important to persuasion, Biden plans to use it.

While some in the business community applauded the defeat of the mandate, Biden insisted that the government’s efforts were not in vain. He said Thursday’s Supreme Court ruling “will not prevent me from using my vote as president to call on employers to do the right thing to protect Americans’ health and economy.”

The conservative majority in the court rejected the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s requirement that employers with 100 or more employees require their employees to be vaccinated or tested for the coronavirus weekly. However, the requirement for vaccination has been left to health professionals.
