Amnesty and COC do not blame KNVB
Amnesty doesn’t blame KNVB for dropping One Love. “You can’t afford a yellow card from a football perspective, and we understand that too,” said the organisation’s spokesperson. “So we are not addressing KNVB or Van Dijk about this, but FIFA.”
The COC also understands the KNVB’s decision. “You can hardly blame the federation and the players. They made their voice heard clearly, they showed their goodwill. This is the problem with FIFA, this club is not good.”
In addition to the Netherlands, England, Wales, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Denmark will also support the One Love campaign. The Netherlands kicked off the World Cup on Monday at 5pm with a group match against Senegal. The dueling path can be followed in us live blog.
