The fire at La Rocca discotheque in Lier was completely put out after 2 a.m. Monday, but the famous Temple of the Dance was completely destroyed. This says Mayor Rick Veroest. The cause of the fires is still under investigation. Note: The disco was going to last open this weekend, but it won’t get that far.

It is believed that a fire that broke out on the ground floor based on witness statements quickly spread throughout the building. “Everything inside was burned and the roof was destroyed,” Mayor Frost says.

There were three people in the building. They were in the apartment above the dance and went out of the house independently. “They inhaled some smoke, but no one was taken to the hospital,” Frost says.

La Rocca director Wim Van Ouytsel reacts emotionally. I’m surprised. I worked on this for 33 years. To see this touches me deeply.”
