Coach Arjan Teige is delighted that American Kyle McCauley has signed with Groningen-based Sameen Lycurgus volleyball team.

Next season, American passer-runner Kyle McCauley will also play for the Samen Lycurgus volleyball team in Groningen.

The 24-year-old, who joined San Diego’s University Tritons last summer, has extended his contract with the team by a year. “I had fun playing for Lycurgus last season,” says McCauley from the US, where he is temporarily back. Unfortunately, the season ended a little earlier (due to the loss of the final title matches, ed.) than expected. I’m really looking forward to returning to Groningen to improve on a personal level and perform even better as a team than last season.”

One of the best passers in the Premier League

McCauley has grown to be one of the best passers in the Premier League in Championship Pool. He was an important offensive force this season. The technically skilled and stable player will soon join the national team training program in Anaheim in his home country.

He is a very complete player

The Lycurgus coaching staff, led by head coach Arjan Teige, wanted to keep McCauley with the team: Kyle had developed into one of the best passers in the Netherlands in recent months. He is a complete player and we hope to take the next step with him next year.”

Having extended the contract with McCauley, Luuk Hofhuis, Guus Boer and Jeffrey Klok already for the next season, Lycurgus’ selection consists of four players at the moment.
