Like his predecessors, Charles celebrates two birthdays as king. On his birthday itself and in June. The King’s birthday is then celebrated by Trooping the Colour.
This tradition began in 1748. King George II loved parties, but his birthday was in November. Because of the weather at that time of year, he decided to throw a summer party. When his successor, George III, was crowned king in 1760, the Trooping the Color festival became an annual event.
Charles’ birthday is also in November, so having a big party outside isn’t an option due to the rainy fall weather. The king has decided to honor the color band. Last June, it was celebrated for the first time, in the traditional way, with a parade of horses. Charles himself also went on horseback. This was the first time a king had done so in 37 years. Elizabeth, who loved horses, last did so on her 60th birthday.
There is a possibility that William, once he becomes king, will commit to one birthday. His birthday is in June, and having two parties in a row is a bit much.

For now, Charles may be hanging the signs twice. He does so on a Monday afternoon at Highgrove, where his private range is located. Charles celebrates this holiday with other people born in 1948 who have done something important for society. These people have been reported by family or friends.
The party is described as a “tea party”: a kind of all-out tea. According to sources, snacks made from regional products are mainly served. This fits well with the norms and values of the British monarch, who places the environment and climate as his top priorities. Charles seems to be a big fan of wine and cheese, and also enjoys traditional cakes. So there’s a good chance these items are on the list.
November 14, Charles’ real birthday, is also a day of celebration. The UK’s National Health Service (health care system) is also celebrating its 75th anniversary this Tuesday. Charles attends a reception for this celebration. He is launching a food project aimed at combating food waste. Which fits perfectly with the King’s ideals.
In the evening the real party can begin. The British King will then receive family and friends at Clarence House (the official residence of Charles and his wife Camilla). No doubt his siblings William and Kate and other family will join there.
