Vitesse hope to have the green light this week for the arrival of goalkeeper Eloi Chambers. The Curacao international is in talks with his club Columbus Crew in the United States to terminate his contract. That should pave the way for a comeback in Arnhem.
Roome (34) is expected to succeed Gail Sherbon, who was signed from Brighton & Hove Albion last season, as Witsey’s successor. With 46 international appearances from Curacao, the club opts for experience. Markus Schubert and Daan Reiziger are considered very light.

Chambers was previously Vitesse’s goalkeeper. In 2017 he won the KNVB Cup with the Eredivisionist, the only prize in the club’s history. He ended up in America via PSV in 2019.
To return to Arnhem the room has to be paid tons. The goalkeeper is the Columbus Crew’s highest earner. Curacao International now has a deal going on in the US, until the end of this calendar year. The Major League Soccer (MLS) club has a one-year extension option. Wants to leave the US without room exchange.
Need reinforcement
Head coach Philipp Goku is confident that the transition from Room to Vitesse will be completed soon. The practitioner wants to use the product optimally. Grinding in automation is important for competition. The coach wants to do it with a complete team.
Goku wants to see more reinforcements in Wiedesse ahead of the training camp in Austria (July 20 to 28). The club has so far made two signings in multifunctional midfielder Matthijs Dielemans (PSV, free transfer) and attacker Amin Boudra (France to US Concarneau, free transfer). Apart from a new goalkeeper, the Premier League side are also looking for a central defender, attacking midfielder, additional wing striker and goal scorer.
