In Miami, the picture did not change in Formula 1. Despite the hopes of Mercedes, the dreams of Ferrari and the ambition of Aston Martin, only one team was dominant: Red Bull. And in particular Max Verstappen. The Dutchman won in America from ninth place and consolidated his leading position in the World Cup standings. AD F1 observer Marijn Abbenhuijs and presenter Etienne Verhoeff spoke about this race on a new episode of Pitstop.
“Miami taught us that Max Verstappen is the greatest driver of the moment. Maybe the decade. Or the best driver of all time?” begins Abbenhuijs in AD Sportwereld’s Formula 1 podcast. That was his calling. It’s not the fastest tire, as all the simulations have shown, but the tactic worked. Verstappen remained calm and the overtaking on lap three was perfect.”
Miami also knew that other teams couldn’t get any closer. Christian Horner also said it afterwards. The RB19 has improved, and the other teams seem to be less so this year.”
Ebenhoeg and Verhoeff also discussed the strength of the white belt, the parade of stars in Miami, the smile of Alonso and Nick de Vries. Listen to Pistop now via AD.nl, the AD app or your favorite podcast platform.
