Sagan declares love of gravel racing after Unbound: ‘I want to do at least two a year’

Peter Sagan was back on the road on Friday after two months at the Swiss Grand Prix in Canton Aargau. Mark Hershey won, while the three-time world champion crossed the finish line after ten minutes in the final set. Sagan finished 69th.

The TotalEnergies driver had a long Covid problem this spring, so he wasn’t able to break any during the Classics. Fifth place in Milan-Torino and fourth place in the Tirreno-Adriatico stage were his only achievements. In the meantime, I no longer feel pain. So those first notes came in at 69th in Switzerland, but it wasn’t Sagan’s first race. Last week he also rode Unbound, the largest dirt-court race in the world, in North America. Sagan was in Utah for 3.5 weeks of boot camp and – in consultation with a specialist sponsor – stuck out unrelated to him. I had a lot of fun in the gravel scene.

Sagan will complete his next race within kilometers from Sunday in a very challenging edition of the Tour of Switzerland, which should give him the final push towards that year’s Tour de France. So it looks like the seven-time winner of the points classification is fit in just in time for the biggest bike race of the year.
