GPD announces Android Gaming Handheld XP Plus upgrade – Gaming – News

Chinese manufacturer GPD announces XP Plus Android upgrade for mobile gaming with an Indiegogo campaign. The modular console will have better support for soc and Wi-Fi 6, among other things. The Plus version is expected to be released in August.

The Plus variant of the GPD XP is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1200, a soc with an Arm Mali-G77 GPU, four energy-efficient Arm Cortex-A55 cores, three Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.6GHz and one 3GHz A78 core. From Indiegogo page The manufacturer also states that the console supports Wi-Fi 6 and can be charged at 30W. Another notable improvement is the redesigned USB-C port, which now supports 4K video output at a refresh rate of 60Hz.

More specifications and design are in full accordance with its predecessor. That is, the gaming laptop keeps the same 6.81-inch 1080p screen, uses the same 7000mAh battery and continues to rely on 6GB of RAM.

The modular concept remains the same with XP Plus; On the left side of the screen there is a built-in controller with a joystick, arrow keys and some additional buttons. The right side of the handheld console is modular, allowing users to connect, for example, a second joystick and the “abxy” buttons, or create a configuration with additional number buttons for mobile phones.

There will be two variants of the GPD XP Plus, 128GB of storage and 256GB of UFS 3.1. The cost of performances during the crowdfunding campaign, so with a discount, transferred respectively 314 and 347 euros. After release, the original console cost around €316 excluding VAT and shipping costs. The crowdfunding goal has already been achieved.
