The hype around the vaccine is all the time, but the politicians knew where they were. Mark Hamill, better known as Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, shared a 1978 poster on Twitter. “When science was not yet politics.”
Mark Hamill isn’t the only Hollywood actor joining the debate. Where the Star Wars actor blinked an eye, Arnold Schwarzenegger recently shared a serious message for people who don’t want a vaccine. “Freedom comes with responsibilities. You can’t just say ‘I have the right to do or not do x, y and z’ if you are a danger to others,” was the gist of it.
1978 Star Wars Vaccine Announcement
In the late 1970s, it was two icons of pop culture and science fiction who shared a message. “Earth fathers, are your children fully immunized? Be sure to contact your doctor or health department today. And may the force be with you“It was the text in the ad in question. At the time, the importance of the vaccine was emphasized for children, not the rooster yelling about it. Under the tweet Watch the entire advertisement aired on US television.
Oh man, wait until anti-fax politicians find out how R2-D2 and C-3PO tried to encourage vaccination…in 1978. Almost like that is nothing new and programs that cater to children want to keep them safe and healthy. pic.twitter.com/Q5nfH5TVsj

Mark Hamill: “When Science Wasn’t Politics Yet”
Mark Hamill retweeted Dr. Tara C. Smith, and it started with the famous first three words you see for every Star Wars movie. “A long time ago, when science was not yet politics.”
Long ago, before science was politicized. https://t.co/cwVGnJkI6A
