The Super Rugby format came in for an absolute buffeting from fans and pundits this year – and deservedly so.

The Australian contingent was embarrassingly poor, and performances from some of the minnows ate away at the competition’s credibility.

But rugby is still rugby, and the 2017 Super 18 nonetheless managed to produce a plethora of breath-taking tries.

The Fox Sports team picked out their (albeit Aussie-skewed) best 10 five-pointers of the season, featuring brilliant movements finished off by Lima Sopoaga, Chance Peni, Kwagga Smith, James Verity-Amm, Henry Speight, Izaia Perese, Gonzalo Bertranou, Sekope Kepu, SP Marais and Joe Powell.

While rifling through the best of the dreadful Australian franchises’ tries, however, they missed this blatantly obvious top-10 contender from the Chiefs – which gets our vote for try of the 2017 season – scored by Toni Pulu.
