The NBA Finals are in full swing, with LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers leading hot favourites the Golden State Warriors 2-1 in what has been a pulsating series to date.
Flashback Friday goes all the way back to the Warriors’ last NBA Championship success, when they swept the Washington Bullets 4-0 in 1975.
The Warriors opened the finals with a 101-95 victory in Game 1, overcoming a 14-point halftime deficit. They repeated the dose in Game 2, clawing back from 13 points down to prevail 92-91 as small forward Rick Barry posted 36 points.
The legendary Barry all but sealed the Championship in Game 3 with 38 points in a 109-101 success, including 19 in a sizzling first quarter.
Check out Barry’s trademark fadeaway, along with the old-school free-throw technique!
The Warriors wrapped up the series with a 96-95 win in Game 4.
Barry retired in 1980 after a stint with the Houston Rockets. He was named as one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players to mark the Association’s 50th anniversary in 1996, while his No.24 is one of just six to be retired by the Warriors.
