With this Google Maps trick, you can easily measure distances

We mainly use Google Maps for navigation, but you can do so much more with it. It is also easy to measure the distance between two places. We tell you how to do it.

Google Maps is a perfect app when you have nothing to do. You can easily discover the best restaurants and bars in the area, view your future vacation destination via street view or walk through an amusement park in 3D. However, you can do a lot more with it, such as measure distances.

You can, of course, see via Google Maps how far to drive to a particular place, but sometimes it’s hard to tell how far a crow flies. Fortunately, this is possible and we tell you exactly how to do it.

It doesn’t matter if you have an iPhone or an Android device, either way this option works perfectly and hence you can take the same steps. Below we explain it step by step.

  1. Open Google Maps
  2. Find a place on the map and tap and hold. This cannot be a place name
  3. Then tap on the red pin and click on “Measure Distance”
  4. You can now measure the other location you want to measure the distance from the first point

This is how you measure the distance between two places. You can do with multiple points. Useful if you want to measure a fast walking or running path, for example. To do this, all you have to do is press “Add Point” in the menu. You can add as many points as you like.

You can also easily delete a step if you don’t want to see it anymore. To do this, tap on the three dots at the top right. Then press “Delete”.
