The Oscars were very special for Ryan Gosling, 43, last Sunday: He was nominated for his role as Ken in the movie “Barbie” and gave a musical performance in that capacity. You might think his wife, Eva Mendes, 50, would have been an enthusiastic spectator in the audience, but the actress was not in attendance at the Oscars. And she has her reasons for that.
“I have no desire to fully expose our private lives, which we value very much.”
Since the two have been in a relationship, they have never appeared in public events with each other. Ryan and Eva agreed that they would never do such things together. Ryan appeared on Sunday evening with his sister and mother by his side, while Eva was likely watching from home with their two daughters.
During the promotional tour for Barbie Eva was also asked if she would appear alongside Ryan again. “We don't do things like this together. I only feel comfortable sharing the photos we've taken before with the world,” she said at the time. She says the reason behind this is very simple. “I have no desire to fully expose our private lives, which we value very much.”
“We walked the red carpet together once and that was when we shot our movie the place beyond the pines “They were promoting,” she explains further. This is the movie where the two met, after which their relationship began.
The fact that the two were not seen together during the Oscars doesn't mean that Eva doesn't support her husband. She was actually present during rehearsals, as seen in this Instagram post:
