In Morocco, the first day of the holy month of Ramadan is Monday, March 11, 2024, when the crescent moon will be sighted on the evening of Sunday, Shaaban 29. If that doesn't work, the holy month begins on Tuesday, March 12.

As the 29th day of Shaban approaches, Muslims around the world are waiting for confirmation of the sighting of the crescent moon to mark the beginning of the month of Ramadan. All eyes are turning to Morocco, which is considered one of the best countries in the Arab and Islamic world to see the crescent. Over the past thirty years, the Kingdom has not committed any mistakes in this field.

Morocco's almost infallible method is visual observation. Before the 28th of each month, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs invites citizens, via a press release, to sight the crescent moon and report the results of their observation via private phone numbers. On the twenty-ninth day, just before sunset, a committee in the ministry meets to evaluate these observations.

The Ministry appointed observers and representatives of Islamic affairs throughout the Kingdom to ensure the legitimacy of the observers and record their testimonies. The Royal Armed Forces also participate in this operation by monitoring the crescent moon from various locations in the Kingdom.
