VINCI has won the civil engineering contract for a new water treatment plant in Nice

VINCI has won the civil engineering contract for the new sewage treatment plant in Nice. Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur and Eau d’Azur have awarded the civil engineering contract for the new Haliotis 2 wastewater treatment plant to a Suez-led consortium consisting of Razel-Bec and Triverio Construction. The work, scheduled to begin in summer 2024, includes demolition or reuse of some existing elements, construction of new water and sludge treatment structures, installation of air handling systems, heat recovery and biogas recovery, and construction of electrical installations, commercial buildings, road structures and utilities.

Haliotis 2, designed with a processing capacity of 680,000 population equivalents, will play a major role in the ecological transformation of the Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur. Approximately 15,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent will be avoided each year from 2030 through biogas, dewatered sludge, and wastewater recovery. The project is in line with circular economy principles, as the vast majority of existing equipment will be reused, as well as debris and materials released during the demolition process.
