(March 25, 2023) Audrey Gordon-Ragot in an extensive interview Eastern France Alarm bells rang at her new team, Jaffe Cycling. The 33-year-old French woman, who suffered a stroke in September 2022, says she has not been paid all year and despair is now too close.
Gordon-Ragot is an established name in the women’s peloton. Having ridden for Trek-Sekafredo in recent years, she won another stage at the Simak Ladies Tour last season and won the Postnord Wargarda in WestSweden. He collected an entire collection of national champion jerseys in time trials and road races during his career.
In 2023, he decided to switch from Trek to Jaffe Cycling, which last winter progressed from club to continental level. Apart from Gordon-Ragot, it also brought on board strong riders like Maggie Coles-Lister and Dutch Mareil Meijering.
All is well, but Gordon-Ragot says he hasn’t been paid a penny this year. This applies to all other riders and staff. “Agencies are now working to recover the money, but we haven’t got anything, including travel expenses. It’s unbecoming of a professional team, it’s hard to do your job this way.’
“To date we have not been paid anything, including travel expenses.”
According to the French woman, Jaffe promised cycling for months that the money would be paid, but those promises were not kept. ‘I haven’t seen a penny yet, I can’t live without it. Don’t know what to do, complicated. If we do not receive payment by the end of March, we can use the financial guarantee paid to the Spanish Cycling Federation to receive compensation for the first three months of the year. It’s a salary, so it can’t wait much longer.’
For those concerned, we hope to get some clarity soon. ‘I’m starting to get a little frustrated, we all do. The team has no money, which is disappointing for everyone. I have no grudge against the management, I am not angry with them. This is a logistical issue with the Spanish bank account sent to the UCI. The account isn’t transparent, it’s blocked, but I don’t know at what level this is happening.’
