Ukraine may eventually join the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The Paris-based think tank has received a request from the Prime Minister of Ukraine. The country is now recognized as a candidate member.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, a plan is being drawn up before accession is discussed. In addition, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development has confirmed that Ukraine has been cooperating with the Foundation for Thought and Opinion since 1991.
In due course, a special office should be opened in Kyiv through which the accession of Ukraine will be arranged. An action plan will also be drawn up to help the country recover, rebuild and reform. According to the think tank, it is important that peace comes quickly in the country.
The OECD is made up of 38 countries, including many European countries and countries such as the United States, Mexico, Canada, Chile, South Korea, and Australia. The think tank also cooperates with more than a hundred countries. One of the goals of the OECD is to improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.
