Tokyo 2020 | This was the fourth day and this is what you can expect from tomorrow
Turn gold into rock
Without their leader, the American gymnasts would not have made it to the team final. They had to settle for silver. The gold medal went to the gymnasts of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), who were also the best in qualifying. Surprisingly, Britain took the bronze.

Osaka OUT
It’s a recurring theme in our daily show: the best tennis players who die prematurely. Today it is Naomi Osaka’s turn. The Japanese had to acquiesce in Czech Marketa Vondrosova, who had previously knocked Kiki Bertens out of the tournament. This makes Elina Svitolina (4) the highest-rated player remaining. She will face Italian Camila Giorgi tomorrow. Is there another possible trick?

Belgium is the country of basketball
When you think of Belgium, you probably think of racing, specialty beer, or french fries, but basketball probably won’t first come to mind. However, that may have changed after today. The Belgian Cats defeated Australia’s national basketball team today, while the 3×3 Basketball Players advanced to the semi-finals. Their Dutch colleagues failed to do so. They lost to the Republic of China.
Brett Ireland
For a moment, there seemed to be an uproar when Dutch table tennis player Brett Ireland brutally won the first match in her eighth final match against Hwy Kim Do of Hong Kong, but that was the highlight of the sequel. With her performance today and an impressive comeback in the previous round, the 27-year-old could look back on a strong championship.
Dutch national team victory
The wait remains for the Netherlands’ first gold (although that will hopefully change soon, more on that below), but our teams are doing well in the group stages. The size of the Dutch handball players was too big for South Korea, the orange lionesses continued to score against China and the hockey men beat Canada.
tomorrow
Tomorrow there will be some pretty stickers on the show. The dream team seeks revenge and the Iranian basketball team looks like the perfect defensive fuel for that. America will be looking forward to the start of the baseball championship. There is also, after the softball players lost to Japan, there is something to correct. In addition, the semi-finals and final of Rugby 7 will take place tomorrow. Can Fiji claim the gold medal again?
Holland success?
Ruud van Nistelrooy compared goalscoring to a bottle of ketchup. You may have to vibrate for a while, but then all of a sudden it all comes off. Could that also apply to Dutch gold tomorrow? There are rowing opportunities, Edward Gall appears to be in good shape for the dressage singles final, and Noel van te End and Sunny Van Dyck will be stepping on tatami mats tomorrow with the necessary ambition. Then there is also Nouchka Fontijn, who will climb to the highest podium in the boxing championship.
experimental time
Many eyes will also focus on the experience of singles time for men and women. Can the anime Van Vleuten and Anna van der Bregen get rid of the bad taste of defeat in road racing? And what about Tom Dumoulin’s test leg after a short vacation?
