Warmer warnings have been issued for North America due to rising temperatures. The increase in temperature is 15 to 20 degrees. Residents should expect temperatures up to 35 degrees, with temperatures in the upper 40s along the East Coast and Midwest.
A sharp rise in temperature is caused by what is called a heat dome, HLN reports:
“A heat dome occurs when persistent high pressure traps heat over an area, and it lasts for several days. The air under the dome becomes dry and warms further due to falling air (high pressure) (the cyclic pump effect). And the dry air gets a lot of sun, during the summer months. Frequent heat waves are caused by several factors, including the duration of the heat wave and the heat dome, currently a strong heat dome is forming over northeastern North America, resulting in the region’s first significant heat wave of the year.
About a dozen forest fires are already raging in the west of the country, half of which started in recent days.
