The United States has found a way to further restrict ASML chip machine exports to China. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on an informed basis. The US government wants to ban the sale of equipment to six Chinese factories if they contain a small percentage of parts from the US, which would also prohibit the sale of older ASML models to those customers.

Later on Friday, the Dutch government will publish ASML export restrictions agreed upon after consultations with the United States and Japan. According to these new rules, the technology company from Veldhoven must apply for export licenses for the top models of its second, more advanced product line, which consists of so-called DUV machines. But according to Reuters, the US plans could also affect less modern chip-making machines.

ASML and the Dutch government did not want to respond substantively to Reuters. The US Department of Commerce also declined to comment.

The United States is increasingly restricting the supply of highly advanced chip technology to China. The country fears that the Chinese regime will also use this knowledge for military purposes.
