Princess Anne believes that British athletes should be proud of their achievements at the Beijing Winter Olympics. Great Britain won two medals at this edition of the Winter Olympics: one gold and one silver. She won both medals in curling.
“Every edition of the Winter Olympics is unique and this time is no different,” Ann wrote in a letter to the GB athletes. “These Winter Games have been challenging in many ways for you, your coach and your families.” “We are still in a global pandemic that has made travel, preparation and competition difficult. With this in mind, you should be very proud of your joint accomplishments in Beijing.”
The Princess, who chairs the British Olympic Committee, has also paid special attention to the footballers who have won medals on behalf of the United Kingdom. “Whether it’s your first Winter Games or your last, keep the memories and friendships you made. Thank you for contributing to Team GB, you’ve made the country proud,” Anne concludes.
